To facilitate smooth and seamless learning our classrooms have been fitted with the latest Smart Boards, which is an interactive display used by educators to whiteboard, project lesson materials, offer online classes, do annotations on the screen while teaching, play videos, and give presentations. Rather than a simple digital teaching whiteboard, a smart board is more like a large tablet that teachers and students alike can intuitively interact with. The have been installed with two main operating systems, that is, Windows and Android which broaden their use and interactivity. The advantages of smart boards in classroom are:
    • They boost student engagement by improving teaching and increasing clarity among students and teachers because teachers can create more dynamic lessons by typing or writing on the screen; call attention of student to certain topics or issues by highlighting; circling; pointing with an arrow and; zooming in. Using split screen mode students and teachers can work and see two different windows at once.
    • They accommodate different teaching and learning styles by creating avenue for auditory learners, visual learners and a kinesthetic (hands-on) learner.
    • They can save, send and share lessons because they have screen recording and screenshot functionality. The content options are limitless: Teachers can save their notes so they can pick up where they left off, or they can create review materials for students to bring home to study.
    • They make classroom work for everyone since they make it easier for teachers to include remote students via videoconference technology or they can teach remotely and be able to monitor all the students using the smart board cameras.
    • They help students succeed in school: A study by the Universal Journal of Educational Research found that students who learned via an interactive smartboard did significantly better on standardized tests than those who did not use the technology. The same study points out that permanence in learning is increased through visual materials, paintings, symbols and screen designs.
