Students from Aveon Schools Diani recently demonstrated their talent at the National Debate Circle Competitions held at St. Paul’s University, competing in debate, public speaking, spelling bee and storytelling.
The competition provided learners with an opportunity to demonstrate their confidence, creativity, critical thinking and communication skills while engaging with other talented students. Our debate and public speaking teams emerged victorious, earning trophies and medals for their outstanding performances and qualifying for the international stage in Rwanda.
This achievement marks an important milestone for the students and reflects the dedication, preparation and support of their teachers and coaches. Progressing from a national competition to an international platform will give the learners valuable exposure, allowing them to strengthen their skills, interact with peers from different backgrounds and represent their school and Kenya beyond the country’s borders.
Debate, public speaking, storytelling and spelling are valuable complements to classroom learning. They help students develop communication, critical thinking, creativity, teamwork, research and leadership skills. Learners also gain confidence in organizing their ideas, expressing themselves before an audience and respectfully engaging with different perspectives.
